About Me

Hi, I am Tara Cain and this is my blog space.

I am a mum of two, I live in the West Midlands area of England and am married to my childhood sweetheart (although if he knew I'd written that here he'd probably curl and and die with embarrassment).

A former features editor, I worked in busy newsrooms, rubbing shoulders with bigwigs and buzzing with the thrill of working on a newspaper for 20 years.

I positively thrived on the stress and, although I never actually got to say 'hold the front page', I loved my job.

But then I discovered a new passion. I had 2 gorgeous children (now aged 6 and 9) and realised I spent far too much time travelling up motorways and in power suits and not enough time with my babies.

So I quit.

Now I am a work at home mum, running my own professional blogger and social media consultancy business from home with a child hanging off each leg.

I. Could. Not. Be. Happier.

I first started blogging for the newspaper I worked on when they asked me to set up a parenting blog. When I quit I had to leave all that behind and start all over again here at Sticky Fingers.
I blog about being a mum, parenting issues, family life and the bizarre and strange things my children say so that in years to come I can look back and remind them/embarrass them.

I hope you like my pad. Make sure you wipe your feet and don't get chocolate fingers on the walls or the cleaning lady will chop your fingers off. No, I don't say that to my children, that would obviously be cruel and unkind.

A couple of 'facts' about me:

• I am a film anorak - and by anorak, I mean total nerd. No one will play movie trivia games with me anymore.
• I am named after a man.
• I didn't think I would ever have children. I didn't think I had what it takes to be a good mum. I thought my maternal genes had been switched off.
• Now I am a mum I thank everything that is holy that I ignored myself and just went for it anyway.
• I run a weekly photographic feature called The Gallery which is open to everyone and which aims to make people dig back through their dusty old albums/take more photos/become as nerdy as me.
• I am fuelled most days by cups of tea.
• I am a hugger. Probably veering on the wrong side of decency.
